lifeinspace01 i found this article about our dreams of the future and it features some really beautiful and surrealist disney cartoons. im not allowed to repost the videos so go to the link and check them out. and the articles pretty interesting too; discusses the vision of the future we had in the past. in the early 1900’s space travel was such a complete fantasy that our interpretation of outer space was more like mythology or Dante’s inferno, full of Gods and Goddesses and jurassic planets of molten gold. just pure imagination.

kind of dissapointing that its all just dust and ice and neutrinos and blackholes and nebulas out there.
seriously though no sea of monsters anywhere?

………….H is for hurry….E is for ergent….L is for love me….P is for please!……….

alosoo, i rediscovered this huge hunk of fools gold from some child hood trip to the rocky mtns and epoxied it to a necklace backing!

seriously though i was kinda baffled about what else i could possibly make in this medium, especially with the not-so breezy summer months coming up…but after some searching i found a couple of ideas that are a little more functional and interesting, a little less kleenex box cozy…

“o” face…

so, after a four hour photoshoot in baltimore involving huge drifts of glitter and Glass Candy playing on a loop, im going to be on the “cover” of the internet based Gutter Magazine.
they put up a photo from the shoot and you can see it here!

ps: spring is coming! my cilantro plant has sprouted…

pss: when summer does get here, this is how i want to play it:

LIKE FUCKING SMASHING PUMPKINS 1979, BUT EVERYTHING GOOD IS EMBEDDING DISABLED BY REQUEST

i want to be a vampire

i would totally take that chance
i would absolutely live forever
…only if i can go in the sun
….especially if it makes me all sparkly (RE: Twilight)
…………………..
im pretty sure my interest is mainly piqued by the whole “living forever” deal, totally into that. i mean all the time youd have to learn everything and go everywhere. all the things youd collect! …nerd alert…
and youd most likely become rich some way or another…(apparantly, this is what happens in all the movies)
but i guess you couldnt be famous because youd have to stay out of the public eye so no one notices you dont age.
and they have powers! like super strength and sometimes changing-into-a-bat power…

that and vampires are sexyyyy…
not interested in blood-letting play, but cmon, Dracula’s all about desire and control and obsession and lust and vice and etc etc…
in the words of R. Pats…

“Your scent. It’s like a drug to me. You’re like my own personal brand of heroin.”

leigh_bowery_372x280
i just watched The Legend of Leigh Bowery, a “chronicle of the colorful escapades” of Bowery, a fashion designer, club promoter and artist in London in the 1980’s. he was one of the preeminent club kid/party fashionista, like James St James and Micheal Alig in NY.
Bowery was a fashion designer and had collections featured in NY and Tokyo but he mostly seemed interested in creating pieces for himself. he was one of those people that friends say was “living art”…Bowery created spooky, goofy, shape-shifting, bedazzled pieces for himself to wear out to clubs and parties. in a way it was performance art…Leigh would advertise openings or performances where his entrance was the main event…sometimes followed by an enema onstage. Leigh was a boisterous, colorful, all-consuming character and became quite famous with the clubbers and New Romantics of London…think boy george and adam ant.
(additionally, the new romantics are interesting because they were like the anti-punks. while punk kids were dressing to embody anarchy and violence, new romantics were comparatively more flamboyant; more dramatic, more frills and decadence, luxury and narcissism. very Oscar Wilde.)
like so many other polysexual artists and club kids of the 80’s, Leigh died of AIDS at the age of 33.

can’t wait for the post-apocalypse throw-down…

so i was watching Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome today, dreaming about the post-apocalypse rag-tag, scavenger, bad-ass lifestyle (and wardrobe: fur and feathers and leather and chains and toys), and remembered Tank Girl…
